Healing for life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups…

The purpose of Salem First Church of the Nazarene’s Celebrate Recovery program is to support each other through life’s Hurts, Habits and Hang-Ups, to celebrate God’s Healing Power in our lives and recoveries.  Through this program, change is possible with our Higher power, Jesus Christ, as we work through the process of the 8 Recovery Principles and the 12 Steps.  We share our experiences, strengths, weaknesses and hopes with one another as we become willing to accept God’s grace in our lives.

As we grow spiritually, we gradually become free of our negative behaviors and character defects, continuing to apply the Biblical principles of recovery as we walk this road of recovery with others. This growth will produce the fruits of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Gentleness and Self-Control in our lives and help us to develop our Spiritual Gifts so that we can continue to give back in Service to the group and to our church family.

Above all else, know that as you start this road of recovery, YOU ARE NEVER ALONE!  We gladly offer this program to all ages, and welcome families to join us and find healing for everyone together!

Join us on Friday Night

6:00 pm –  Dinner
Our Dinner Team volunteers provide meals for every Friday night.  The “full meal deal”  per person is $2, and that gets the entire meal and a soda or water.  The last Friday night of each month we are able to offer the meal for free to all. This is a great time of fellowship, and a welcoming place for a newcomer to get started with us, so bring the whole family!

7:00 – 9:00 pm – Children
Children will experience a time of learning, Bible stories, music, playtime, snacks, and a video! Please pick up the kids by 9:00 pm.

7:00 pm – Large Group
We meet in the main Sanctuary and begin with Worship music and alternate each week with either a Lesson from the Celebrate Recovery program or a Testimony from someone who has found hope and healing through Christ for their Hurts, Habits and Hang-Ups.

8:00 pm – Open Share Small Groups
Our Open Share Small Groups are a great source of support, and we use the Five Small group Guidelines for our meetings.  We offer the following groups:

Newcomers 101
Men’s Hurts, Habits and Hang-Ups
Women’s Hurts, Habits and Hang-Ups
The Landing for Teen Girls
The Landing for Teen Boys

9:00 pm – Solid Rock Café
We end our evening with another fellowship time, allowing people to connect with others.  Hope Station has graciously partnered with us to provide free snacks for this time.

Welcome to a grand adventure—an exciting and surprising and life-changing journey, in partnership with God. The Landing is a unique experience. It’s structured as an ongoing 52-week program— based on the beatitudes where Jesus laid out principles for happiness in the sermon on the mount—for teenagers who are struggling to live their lives in a healthy, God-honoring way. Maybe they come from a dysfunctional home or have faced crises in their life. Maybe they simply need help developing patterns of wise choices, or they wrestle with an addiction of some kind. Whatever their life story, they know they need something more than a typical Sunday school class or youth group meeting. Or maybe they don’t know this, but the people who love them do. The Landing is a safe, healing place where teenagers can live a freer, healthier, and more God-centered life.
