A Place of Connection
A Place of Connection
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul, and all your mind’.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

1912

the Salem Nazarene church began meeting in the WCTU Hall on Commercial and Ferry Streets.

1913-1968

Salem Naz remained one body under many roofs, moving during this time period from a tent on 19th and Marion, to the German Methodist Church building, before having to move once again after that building was condemned.

1968 – 2011

With part of the Center Street building condemned, the church started looking for a new place. They found one on Market St, with the initial Sanctuary and educational facilities completed in 1968. The congregation continued to grow, so the building did as well! Many offices, rooms, and the Girrard Gymnasium were added during the leadership of Rev. H.B. London Jr. By 2007 it was obvious we needed a dedicated building for youth, which morphed into a large-scale addition to the church. We began construction in 2010 and dedicated the building in 2011.
