Jonah's Druthers March 25, 2012

Horses and riders greeted 1200 guests in the parking lots for the March 25 presentation of Jonah's Druthers by the Worship Arts and Children's Ministries of Salem First.  Carol Whitbeck, Worship Pastor, and her leadership team, led the 40-voice children's choir through an 11-week experience of singing, dancing, and acting about God's call to Jonah and the consequences of ignoring that call. Jonah's story is one of redemption that gives all of us hope.  The setting of Jonah's Druthers, the wild wild west, gave the kids opportunity to dress in late 1800's costumes and have the fun of cowboys and cactus! Between two morning services, the Orchard Mountain Spring Band played bluegrass music in the Lobby while guests, some who dressed up for the occasion, enjoyed cookies, "rattlesnake juice," a shootin' gallery, and a seed-spittin' contest (won by our Children's Pastor Trevor Robinson--musta' been rigged!). Volunteers from the church created a most memorable morning by assisting with costumes, lighting, makeup, hair, construction, painting, and much more.  Special thanks to the Marion County Sheriff's Posse!

Choir

The choir leads the congregation in our traditional service at 9:15 am and ministers throughout the year at musicals and special events. Rehearsals are Wednesday nights at 6:45 pm, and Sunday mornings at 8:45 am.

Orchestra

The Orchestra plays Sunday mornings for the traditional service and for special events throughout the year. Rehearsals are Wednesday nights at 6:45 pm and Sunday mornings at 8:30 am.

 

Worship Teams

Worship teams are developed through personal interview, and assist in worship each Sunday. Participation in a team requires a high level of commitment and personal preparation.

 

The Band

Comprised of acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, percussion, and keyboard play Sunday mornings for the contemporary service and for special events throughout the year. Personal interview required. Rehearsals are Thursday nights at 6:30 pm. 

 

Celebrate Recovery Worship

Leads worship on Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm. This includes a vocal team and band.  Rehearsals are held Sunday afternoons.

 

Media Techs

Media Techs operate our graphics presentation in every service, and assist in rehearsals. Training is provided.

 

Sound Techs

Sound Techs operate our digital Yamaha soundboard in every service, and assist in rehearsals. Training is provided.
