What Does It Mean To Be "Saved"?

Note to you as a Parent

This week as you are driving your child to the many activities that I’m sure you are a part of, how about taking some time and turning the radio off. I know as Americans it’s hard for us to not have something entertaining us, but give it a shot. In the relative silence of your moving car start a conversation with your child about what it means to be saved. This can spark one of the most important conversations that you will ever have with your child. Ask some questions about what they think and believe about being saved and be ready to talk to them about your faith. I’ve told them to come to you, as their spiritual mentor, with all of their questions about God, faith, and salvation, so be ready to answer with your own personal testimony and knowledge. And if you have some questions about these things or just need some refreshing please feel free to chat with anyone of the pastors here at Salem First. We are always ready, willing, and able to talk with you about anything you may need some clarification on. So get excited! This is the most important time in your child’s spiritual life and you are one of the most important contributors. I know you will take this honor and responsibility seriously and give it your top priority.

Weekly Memory Verse

1st John 4:8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

We are in the process of memorizing 1st John 4:7-12. Each week we will tackle one verse. If a child can come in the following week and recite the verse for last week they will receive a prize for their hard work. If a child can, at the end of the theme, recite the entire section of scripture they will be invited to our Movie Mayhem Night. We will be watching Disney’s The Chronicles of Narnia, eating pizza, popcorn, and ice-cream and having a fantastic time!

Scripture for this week

1st Peter 3:15

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.

John 14:6

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
