How it came to be...

  • On September 1, 1983, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation was formed out of a concern by the church board and pastor for a formal program to help people from the congregation with wills, trusts and endowment gifts.

    Anyone who wishes to support the ongoing mission of the church and who desires to give to God through the church is encouraged to utilize the resources of the Foundation
    .

    The Foundation board meetings are open to all, and directors serve without compensation, providing a perpetual entity to which gifts and bequests can be made.

    Foundation funds can go to several areas such as:
        Missions
        Building and Property
        Bible Memorial Fund
        Compassionate Ministries
        Scholarships
        Other

    How it is funded...
    Gifts come to the Foundation for any one of several purposes:

  • · Honor friends and relatives on the
    occasion of birthdays, anniversaries or
    special accomplishments;

    · Memorialize deceased friends
    and relatives;

    · Support the ongoing mission of
    the church;

    · Assist in overall financial planning; and

    · Take advantage of tax deductions.

    Any of these reasons will help us fulfill our roles as stewards in the life of the church and help Salem First Church of the Nazarene fulfill its mission.

    Cash gifts, life insurance, stocks and bonds, real estate, gift annuities or other valuable property may be given to the church through the Foundation. The principal derived from such gifts is generally maintained intact and placed in secure investments. Please request a copy of our "Gift Acceptance Policy" for a complete listing of gifts the Foundation may accept.

    The Foundation is not intended to be a substitute for, nor in any way competitive with, customary giving of tithes and offerings to the church.

    The Bible Memorial Fund
    The Salem Nazarene Foundation has formed the Bible Memorial Fund to receive donations in memory of loved ones and friends or to recognize such special occasions or accomplishments as birthdays, anniversaries or graduation.

    Funds received will be used to purchase Bibles for baptismal candidates at Salem First Church of the Nazarene. At the time of baptism, each candidate will be presented with a quality, age-appropriate NIV Bible.
