This week we witnessed an event that every parent fears with the
senseless murder of over 30 people on the campus of Virginia Tech
University. I believe that as, not only Christians but also, moral and
caring people it is our great duty and God given task to do everything
that we can to comfort the hurting in their time of need. That is why I
am postponing our regular "Heores" lesson so that we can write letters
to the families, University, and community that has suffered such a
horrible loss and tragedy. I believe that it is very valuable to teach
our children that when they see things on the news and in the papers
that these are real people that are truly suffering. While we can
change the channel and turn the page, they cannot. It seems to me that
we have become quite callous, and I want to try hard to change that.
This week, I believe, it would be wise to discuss these events with
your children. Talk about what happened and why. How it affects you.
How it affects them.
